Alice Helena Dutra Violante graduated in Medicine from the Universidade Severino Sombra (1979), obtained her Master's in Medicine (Endocrinology) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1984), and her Ph.D. in Medicine (Endocrinology) from the same university (1993). She is currently a Full Professor of Medicine - Endocrinology - and a Permanent Professor of the Graduate Program in Endocrinology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since 1999. She has experience in the field of Medicine, with an emphasis on Endocrinology, working mainly on the following topics: hypothalamic-pituitary tumors, pituitary adenomas, prolactinomas, adrenal diseases with a special focus on pheochromocytoma, and related genetic diseases as well as neuroendocrine tumors. She was a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine and the Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital - UFRJ from 2004 and served as its coordinator from April 2007 to December 2011. In 2009, she received an Honorable Mention in the Medicine 1 category for the CAPES Thesis Award 2008 as the advisor for a doctoral thesis in Endocrinology - "Alterations in Glucose, Lipid Metabolism, Body Composition, and Quality of Life in Patients with Prolactinoma." In 2016, she established a partnership with the University of Porto - IPATIMUP (Institute of Molecular Pathology) regarding the project "Clinical and Molecular Diagnosis of Patients with Pheochromocytomas and Paragangliomas." She is a participant in the "International Bilateral-Pheocromocytoma Registry Group" and a member of the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society, and the European Society of Endocrinology. She is also a member of the "Frontiers Editorial Board - Frontiers in Endocrinology and Frontiers in Neuroscience." She represents Full Professors in the Congregation of the Faculty of Medicine at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro for the term 2023 - 2025.
