The Endocrinology Service of Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital (HUCFF), at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, is the main referral center for various endocrine diseases in Rio de Janeiro.
It offers a wide range of outpatient clinics for specific diseases and provides care for highly complex hospitalized patients. Another distinguishing feature is its strong connection with scientific and academic activities, in addition to clinical services.
It's noteworthy that the Endocrinology Service has a close relationship with the Graduate Program in Endocrinology, as some of its members are program advisors, annually training masters and doctors in various research areas.
The clinical staff includes renowned experts and sought-after speakers at various national and international events and conferences. Many professors are researchers awarded with productivity grants from CNPq and Our State Scientists (FAPERJ). Additionally, they hold important leadership roles in different scientific societies.
Professor Mário Vaisman has always led this service with excellence and remains a great leader in the field. Currently, the head of the service is Professor Patrícia de Fátima Teixeira, who was the director of the Thyroid Department of SBEM in the last administration (2020-2022) and a member of the Latin American Thyroid Society.
The Endocrinology Service at HUCFF annually hosts 6 residents who historically have excelled in various prominent positions in Endocrinology services in Brazil and abroad.
